Spindrift’s highly waterproof and breathable 2-layer laminate with full taped seams keeps wind and water out, so it’s great for inshore keelboat and big boat sailing when you don’t need full gear but you do need to block a cool breeze and spray. The Spindrift is designated “highly water resistant” due to the fact that it’s zippers are not waterproof, but it does have an inner placket on each zipper to prevent water from getting through to you.
